Note: "Elizabeth Potts and Jane Potts, her daughter, came to Pennsylvania in1683, as shown by a deed recorded in the Recorder's Office ofPhiladelphia, in Deed-Book E3, Volumn 6, page 42. They were the first ofthe name known to have settled in that state. Elizabeth Potts seems tobeen a widow when she came to Pennsylvania, and it is believed thatothers of the family, besides her daughter Jane, came with her. They wereFriends and in 1685 were under the care of the Philadelphia MonthlyMeeting. In 1684 they obtained a grant of one hundred acres of land,which was supposed to be laid out in Philadelphia County, but asubsiquent resurvey showed it to be in Chester County."

Note: "He was a miller by occupation, and was party to numerous landconveyances, owning lands and mills in Bristol Township, and New Jersey.He was a member of the Society of Friends and attached to the AbingtonMonthly Meeting. He was an acceptable Public Friend, as ministers of thatsociety are termed, and after 1700, traveled much in the Truth. He wasreferred to as 'Thomas Potts, the Quaker Preacher'."

Note: "Jane Austin, being 'weak in body but sound mind and memory,' made herwill December 26, 1733, and died September 14, 1734. The will is recordedin Will-Book E, page 309, at Philadelphia. She mentions son SamuelAustin; daughters Ann Robins, Elizabeth Chanel and Mary; grandchildrenJohn Robbins, Mary Robins, John Austin, John Wood. The executors wereGeorge Fitzwater, Anthony Morris, and Jacob Shoemaker. Witnesses, EzekielPotts and John White."

Note for: David Potts, ABT. 1670 - 16 Nov 1730 Index
Note: "David married Alice Croasdale, youngest daughter of Thomas and Agnes(Hathornthwaite) Croasdale, 1 mo. 22, 1693-94. In 1695 he purchased 150acres of land in Bristol Township, Philadelphia. He afterwards sold 50acres of this tract, retaining 100 acres upon which he seems to havespent the remainder of his life as a farmer. He was a man of goodstanding in the community, and was a Member of the Provincial Assemblyfrom Philadelphia County for the years 1728, 1729 and 1730."
